Curriculum for Today
We’ve provided a group of educational resources below. We’ve listed them in an order that we hope will build on your understanding of concussions as you go.
Unit 1: Rehabilitation
Read our page: (~15 min) Concussion and Rehab Clinics
Read our Physical Therapy page (~15 min)
Read our Vestibular Therapy page (~15 min)
Read our Vision Therapy page (~20 min)
Read CA blog post interview of Sarah Gallagher on Vestibular Therapy and Telehealth for Concussions (~10 min)
Read our page Graduated Exercise Therapy — Concussion Alliance (~15 min)
Read our page Medication (~15 min)
Read our page Hormone Therapy (~10 min)
Watch Physical Rehabilitation Following a Concussion, Katherine Schneider, Associate Professor and Clinician Scientist (Physiotherapist), Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre, Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Calgary. This is 4 years old, but the recommendations are still good. Dr Schneider was the chair of the 6th consensus in sport group. (~10 m, watch the whole thing, demonstrations start around minute 7)
Listen to podcast: Concussion Corner Podcast – Dr. Shannon Bauman MD: Role of the Physician in Comprehensive Concussion Management. (~40 min)
Note - this starts a little slow the first 5-6 minutes, but totally worth it. A physician who had persistent post-concussion symptoms and founded a clinic for multidisciplinary care for concussion. Also the importance of a doctor doing the initial screening to catch other diagnoses. It is from 2019 but is still relevant.
Unit 4: Stanford Writing Course
Stanford Writing Course Week 4: Organization and streamlining the writing process
Do this at your own pace throughout the week, each lesson is separate (~2.5 hours total)
